About the system

Fire protection system design in Kyiv and Ukraine

Design is the first step in creating an integrated fire protection system. We collect information about the building, define the required systems and prepare coordinated drawings, diagrams, specifications and explanatory materials.

KABO GROUP reviews the available information, prepares an agreed technical scope and completes the work with the defined documentation.

Practical guide

System details and solution selection

How the solution is selected

We assess the building use, protected area, fire risks, existing engineering services and the required performance before agreeing the technical solution.

What affects scope and cost

The estimate reflects system size, equipment or materials, access conditions, interfaces, commissioning and the completion documents agreed for the project.

From survey to handover

KABO GROUP can survey, design, supply, install, test and hand over the system, followed by planned maintenance where required.

Design inputs and system boundaries

Design begins with building use, plans and sections, consequence class, room hazards, occupancy, operating mode and information from adjoining services. Refurbishment also requires a survey of existing systems.

The brief records system scope, responsibilities, design stage, calculations, interfaces and deliverables, preventing gaps between architecture, structures, electrical, ventilation, water and controls.

Cause-and-effect and system interfaces

A cause-and-effect matrix defines which events initiate warning, smoke control, door release, lift recall, ventilation shutdown or extinguishing. It is coordinated with building operations and every responsible discipline.

Each signal has a source, confirmation logic, delay, fail-safe state and test method, allowing commissioning to verify the complete safety scenario rather than isolated devices.

Design document package

Depending on design stage, the package may include design notes, plans, diagrams, cable and pipe schedules, calculations, specifications, cause-and-effect, interface requirements and testing criteria.

The package is agreed against DBN A.2.2-3:2014 with applicable amendments, project inputs and contract requirements. Standards are rechecked for every project rather than copied from an earlier job.

Regulatory basis

Regulations and standards considered

This list explains the regulatory basis but is not a substitute for a project or a complete schedule for every building. Document status, amendments and building-specific requirements are verified when the project starts.

Process

Work stages

Project information

Send the building purpose, floor area, architectural plans and the available technical brief.

Application review

We determine the systems that may be required and arrange a survey when site verification is necessary.

Technical brief

We prepare and agree the scope, design assumptions and requirements for the selected systems.

Project development

We prepare the graphical and written parts: drawings, diagrams, notes and equipment specifications.

FAQ

Common questions

Which fire protection systems do you design?+

We design automatic fire suppression, automatic fire detection and alarm, fire warning and evacuation control, smoke control, fire protection system monitoring and dispatch, and lightning protection systems.

What is required to start?+

Plans, a technical brief and information about the building’s purpose and operating conditions.

How does the work begin?+

We start with the available information, a site survey and an agreed technical brief.

What determines the cost?+

Cost depends on floor area, building configuration, system scope, access conditions and the required completion documents.
